Massachusetts Information Security Summit
Springfield, MA – As of March 1, 2010, Massachusetts will have the strictest privacy and data regulations in the nation with the adoption of MA 201 CMR 17, or the Massachusetts Personal Data Protection regulation. All businesses that keep personal information on Massachusetts’s residents will be required to adhere to rigorous privacy and security standards, and the security breach notification statute to prevent identity theft, or face penalties of up to $5,000. Although all businesses will be affected by these changes, none more so than the medical, legal, insurance, financial, and information technology (IT) fields. And the Massachusetts Bar Association has taken notice.
Recognizing an informational void, Sten-Tel Transcription of Springfield and Peritus Security Partners of East Longmeadow are jointly presenting the Massachusetts Information Security Summit on January 27, 2010 at the Sheraton Springfield. The Massachusetts Bar Association is sponsoring this day-long event to educate western Massachusetts and northern Connecticut businesses about new federal and state security laws.
“We are excited to host a regional summit that will help firms fully comply with the law and implement an array of data security controls”, says Sten-Tel founder and CEO Raymond Catuogno, Sr., who, with Peritus President, Charles Christianson, will be among the MassISS speakers. Other speakers include government officials, judicial, and industry leaders in information security. The event will also feature breakout sessions and the introduction of the Total Compliance Solution from Sten-Tel, a SysTrust Certified company.
